Do You Suffer from an Autoimmune Disease?

Are you struggling with auto-immune condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Epstein-barr:measles virus, Diabetes, Hashimoto's, MS, Inflammatory bowel disease, Psoriasis, Addison's, Scelorderma, Vitiligo and the list goes on. Autoimmune can be present in the body for many years prior to symptoms showing up.

Did you know that women are more susceptible to autoimmune than men?

There are different reasons for that, some scientists say its because of our X Chromosome.

Endocrinologists and Gynaecologists also insist in checking your hormones regularly important to monitor hormonal levels, especially at major times of hormonal fluctuations such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause and post menopause.

Stress is a major trigger for auto-immune and autoimmune is very stressful on the body. I have already discussed the correlation between stress and hormonal imbalance.

DHEA is the hormone that is highly anti-inflammatory however, when we get stressed the body halts the production of our sex hormones (bye bye DHEA production) and focuses on pumping out cortisol to deal with stress. This is known as the 'Cortisol Steal Effect' or'pregnenolone steal'.

The body will always prioritise survival before reproduction. I am always curious when I see autoimmune patients with low DHEA.

It's so important to keep monitoring your hormones because imbalance for long period of time also creates stress on the body and then suddenly post menopausal ladies are diagnosed with auto-immune.

The tell tell signs are there though from long before.

I am committed to early diagnosis while the disease is still hopefully remediable, as well as overall reduction of incidence through addressing digestive and immune system health.

Watch the video below as I address the importance in gut health for autoimmune as vital importance:
