Breastfeeding and sex

So many of my patients experience low sex drive when they are breastfeeding.

Totally not interested in sex and wondering what’s going on?

Do not fear, you have not fallen out of love with your husband!

Hormonally your body is using so much energy to nurture and is so wise that its saving hormonal energy from sex hormones. When prolactin levels are high from breastfeeding, sexual desire is diminished and estrogen and testosterone levels, which boost libido, are lowered.

Watch the video below to learn the answers to some of your questions.

It’s natural to feel like a sex queen when you are breastfeeding. Even if you "don’t feel like it," I encourage you to just go for it. For this period, you have to "do it to feel it" instead of your previous state of desire "feel it to do it."

Sex is always a good idea for your marriage and for your hormonal health as it boosts serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin. These are all the feel-good neurotransmitters that boost your mood, lower your stress levels, and enhance feelings of connection.

Just go for it.
